The seedling nursery presents Zwingli’s garden culture and the plants that formed the local diet around 1500. It indirectly highlights the immense importance of the climate in our existence. The climate here in Zwingli’s time in the Medieval Warm Period was very favourable, offering many advantages for agriculture, stockbreeding and transalpine trade. It is very different today, and the disadvantages for winter tourism can already be felt below 1500 metres. Where will we be in 30 years?
Visitors will be able to see the vegetables and grains that were eaten 500 years ago. A variety of herbs, fibre crops and dye plants add the finishing touch to the nursery. The project was completed under the technical and scientific supervision of RhyTOP GmbH in Salez. A brochure with full detailed descriptions is available.
